A MANNINGTREE teenager who starred in a Christina Aguilera video has won a top award at an annual educational achievement event.  

Oliver Jenkins, 18, received the principal's choice award at the event by the Eastern Education Group - an organisation involving local sixth forms which helps 15,000 students across the region connect to greater opportunities.

Oliver travelled more than 30 miles each day to the West Suffolk College Sixth Form for his musical theatre course and had a 100 per cent attendance record.

Oliver is also now heading to the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London.

He said: “I was told I got this award for the progress I’ve made and the work I’ve put in.

“Winning this is quite a big thing. I’ve obviously done something right.

"I’m proud of myself and my hard work has paid off.”

Oliver starred in the 2022 Christina Aguilera video called Beautiful Christina Aguilera - Beautiful and other productions while he was at college.

He said: “I learnt so much in such a short space of time and I’m thankful to the tutors.

“We often joke about the fact that I would thank them if I won an Oscar – but let’s make that joke a reality.”

Oliver was one of 32 students from across the Eastern Education Group who were honoured at an awards ceremony which took place on Tuesday (June 25).
