A primary school has been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted and ‘outstanding’ for three categories.
All Saints’ Primary School, on Main Road, Dovercourt, was rated 'good' overall following an Ofsted inspection which took place from April 30 to May 1.
The school was rated ‘good’ for its quality of education and leadership and management, and ‘outstanding’ in the categories of personal development, early years provision, and behaviour and attitudes.
Ofsted said the school, which was last rated 'good' in 2015, was "highly inclusive", with pupils being encouraged to aim high, adding: “Pupils work hard and ‘never give up’, demonstrating the school’s vision.
“They have high aspirations for their future lives. Police officer, nurse, teacher and archaeologist are just a few examples of pupils’ career goals.”
Ofsted also said the school’s curriculum was ambitious for all pupils, with teachers using the start of lessons to recap previous classes.
Pupils from all years group also "have a say” in the running of the school, and subject champions, play leaders, librarians and prefects are “all excellent role models who take their jobs seriously”.
The school was praised for identifying the requirements of special educational needs and disabilities pupils “swiftly and accurately”.
The report said pupils develop a love of reading in groups and that the primary school’s new phonic scheme was “taught well” with the majority of pupils being fluent readers by the end of Year 2.
Ofsted also said teachers felt proud to work at the school and governors visit regularly to “gain a greater understating of the school’s priorities”.
Chair of governors Dr John Shaw said staff are already “reviewing” their delivery of all foundation subjects, as requested in the report’s action plan, and said he was particularly proud the school was rated outstanding in three areas.
Dr Shaw also thanked the school’s “fantastic children”, and added: “I’d also like to thank you, our parents and carers, for your part in ensuring our school continues its journey towards excellence.
“So, ‘well done’ to everyone associated with All Saints’ School.”
