A man reportedly tried to escape from police by boat in Manningtree after causing a "disturbance" on the beach.
Essex Police officers from the Harwich Community Policing Team were called to the beach where two allegedly intoxicated males were "causing a disturbance".
The reported antisocial behaviour was "distressing to visitors and residents", police said, and the officers identified one male at the scene who had an outstanding warrant and was detained.
Police say the second man tried to get away from the police and jumped into the water where got access to a dingy, that was moored nearby to escape.
Essex Police’s Marine Unit came to assist and helped detain the second man, who was discovered to be wanted for several offences.
Both men were remanded and were due to attend court this week.
