HARWICH and Dovercourt Cricket Club and local business SATO held a thrilling charity match in aid of Kidney Care, raising nearly £700.
The charity cricket match took place on July 25 and was organized by employees Natalie Whiffing and Brandon Carter from SATO, a manufacturer in the labelling industry, which has its headquarters in Harwich.
Kidney Care was chosen as a heartfelt thank you for the care received by the husband of SATO employee Helen Payne, who underwent a kidney transplant in July 2023.
A barbecue and a raffle contributed to a total of £684 being raised on the night.
Helen said: "Thank you to everyone who provided raffle prizes and came along to support and donate."
Helen's son Chris is running the London Marathon next April for Kidney Care.
Chris said: “I’m running the London Marathon for my Dad who battled kidney disease and underwent a transplant.
"I want to support others facing similar challenges.”
Kidney disease affects millions of people in the UK.
Chronic kidney disease affects more than 10 per cent of people, becoming more common as the population ages.
