THE Harwich Society’s annual ‘Bobbit’s Stroll’ was another great success with hundreds attending and raising more than £500 for this year’s chosen charity.
Bobbit’s Hole is the Harwich Society nature reserve in the centre of Dovercourt and is open every Sunday from 10am to 12 noon for visitors to enjoy free of charge.
The yearly ‘Bobbit’s Stroll’, took place on Sunday (August 4), when visitors could wander around the lake and enjoy the wildlife at the reserve in return for a donation to charity.
This year’s chosen charity was the ‘We Care Wildlife Rescue Centre’ - a rehabilitation service for animals and birds based at Brantham.
The event was attended by hundreds of visitors and £508 was raised.
Harwich Society chairman Colin Farnell said: “This is a day that all of the Harwich Society volunteers who manage Bobbit’s Hole look forward to and it was another great success.
“We first ran the Bobbit’s Stroll in 2009 and it is lovely to see that it still has so much support within the community.”
The children’s nature quiz and the activities overseen by Home Start entertained younger visitors while others enjoyed cakes, teas and coffees while they walked or sat to enjoy the lake view.
