HARWICH volunteers are required for an outdoor performance held at a beach for the end of this month.

Colchester’s Mercury Theatre are looking for volunteers to support an outdoor performance(s) which will Harwich’s Yachting Beach on 30th August and 1st September.

From Here On, by award-winning theatre companies Good Chance and Gecko, marks the 85th anniversary of the Kindertransport, when nearly 10,000 Jewish children were given safe passage to the UK from Nazi-occupied Europe.

It is an artistic remembrance of that history and also highlights the contemporary stories of child refugees.

The volunteer’s role would be to help steward the event and full training will be given.

There are two shifts, shift 1 at 09.45am to 1:45pm and shift 2 at 2.30pm to 6.15pm, with no particular skills or qualifications being needed.

From Here On has already been performed in Dover and will then go to London Liverpool Street and the Hague in Holland in September, followed by Berlin in Germany.

The play aims to inspire new acts of solidarity in partnership with Safe Passage International, a charity which helps unaccompanied child refugees and vulnerable adults find safe routes to sanctuary.

Tickets are free for the public event and do not need to be booked advance.

Please click here or visit the CVST website to volunteer.
