POLICE are investigating after part of a controversial fence was taken from the quay at Mistley.

Fence panels were illegally removed along the quay last Saturday afternoon and on bank holiday Monday.

Campaigners have been fighting to get the fence removed for  more than a decade.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “We are investigating an incident of criminal damage in Mistley where fencing was cut down on the quay.

“Eleven fence panels were removed illegally between 2pm and 4pm last Saturday, August 24.

“A further panel was removed on the evening of bank holiday Monday, and this is being investigated as theft."

They continued: “If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.
