A MANNINGTREE art trail has raised more than £1,400 for adults with learning disabilities in Mistley.

The Art Around the Walls trail in July was organised for the Acorn Trust which is a charity for adults with learning disabilities in Mistley.

Artwork from more than 30 established and emerging local artists went under the hammer at auction, with visitors being able to talk with the artists at three venues across Manningtree.

Phil Wilden, Acorn’s day services manager, was presented with a cheque for £1,450 by artist Sam Luxford, one of the organisers of the trail, who also works and sells her art through the NaviStitch shop on Manningtree High Street.

Phil said: “Thank you to the wonderful Art Around the Walls team and all who supported the event for making a difference and enhancing the lives of adults with learning disabilities at Acorn Village.

“We think you are all amazing. We loved seeing all the different artwork around Manningtree which included three pieces of art created by Acorn service users.

"It was brilliant to see such creativity used to support Acorn in this way.”
