ALL of the Harwich Society’s visitor attractions were open free of charge last weekend as part of the National Trust’s ‘Heritage Open Days’.

The Harwich Society is a big supporter of the open days - the largest English history and culture festival.

So all the visitor attractions run by the society - which include the Redoubt Fort, Maritime Museum and Ha’penny Pier Visitor Centre - were open free of charge at he weekend.

"I cannot thank all our volunteers enough for all the hard work they put in for this weekend, getting all the attractions open and all the museums so visitors can look around.

"Thank you also to all the visitors who came, and the weather really helped - it was busy.

Maria also said the visitor numbers were up with several of the curators telling her on the day that the numbers exceeded last year.
