AN eighth watering hole has been added to a series of books focussing on pubs in Harwich.
Local historians Richard Oxborrow, Lewis Peake, and Harry Black created the 'Little Pub' series in the pandemic.
Each pub has its own book so drinkers can find out more about the hostelry and its history.
The eighth book is about Shakers Bar, formerly known as the Elephant and Castle, and includes information about the pub's previous names, a licensing scandal, and an attempt to have it closed by temperance activists.
Previous ‘Little Pubs' books have featured the Stingray and Crown Post, the Hanover, New Bell, Alma Inn, the Samuel Pepys, British Flag and the Globe.
Mr Oxborrow said: “We have been amazed at how popular our 'Little Pub' books have become, and local people and visitors alike have become very interested in learning more about the history of Harwich’s historic pubs.
“With eight 'Little Pub' books now available in the series we can offer a great pub crawl around historic Harwich without any fear of a hangover the next morning.”
The latest book is available at Shakers Bar, the Ha’penny Pier visitor centre and Harwich Museum.
