ONE of the largest employers in Harwich is taking part in the 170th Harwich Guy Carnival this year.
SATO UK, known for producing over three billion labels a year from its Harwich factory on Valley Road, is taking part in the Guy Carnival on Saturday, October 26, from 6.30pm to 9pm.
The carnival – thought to have started in 1854 - pokes fun at topical issues in a tradition known as guying, with floats and walking groups lining the streets of Harwich and Dovercourt.
The carnival is organised by Harwich and Dovercourt Rotary Club and sees people dressing up, riding on floats, wearing the traditional 'bigheads', or lining the streets of Harwich and Dovercourt to watch.
The SATO team will wear blue superhero capes and eye masks, and be armed with label pricing gun machines.
They will also join in with the collections and tow a giant label printer on a trailer.
SATO marketing manager Ginette May said: “We are thoroughly looking forward to taking part in the Harwich Guy Carnival.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the community, celebrate our shared heritage, and support local charities.”
