FREEPORT East is holding a business forum alongside the University of Essex with speakers from other authorities at Harwich’s Waterfront to discuss the role the town can play in clean energy initiatives.
Harwich Clean Energy and Maritime Innovation Cluster is the second business forum hosted by Freeport East, Tendring District Council and the University of Essex in collaboration with the EastWind Offshore Cluster.
Businesses in Harwich can attend the event to discover the latest opportunities regarding maritime and offshore wind innovation
While speakers from Harwich Haven Authority and EastWind - a cluster which deals with the implementation of the Offshore Wind Sector Deal in the Eastern region - will also share insights so participants can discover collaborative opportunities in Harwich.
The Government announced in 2023 that Harwich and Felixstowe would become a freeport, which means the area will benefit from tax reliefs and simplified customs procedures.
It is aimed at encouraging economic activity, which is seen as a means of boosting global trade following Brexit.
The event will take place on Wednesday December 4 from 4 to 6 pm at The Waterfront on Lower Marine Parade.
