A HARWICH boy who made a portrait of Rishi Sunak out of hundreds of Rubik's cubes is now attempting to beat the world record with a new picture of Queen Elizabeth II.

Henil Soni, 11, was first inspired by a primary school friend to create big artwork out of Rubik’s cubes when he was 10.

He was already a whizz at solving Rubik’s Cubes when he was just five.

Henil in February made a portrait of then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak using 1,764 Rubik’s cubes – making headlines across the world.

The youngster, who is a pupil at Harwich and Dovercourt High School, is attempting to break the world record which is 2,500 cubes.

Henil, who is also into cricket and maths, converts photographs into pixelated 'drawings'.

The attempt will take place at the Harwich and Dovercourt High School on December 6 at 3.30pm.

Mum Priyanka said: “He chose the Queen as she is brought so much good to the UK and the charities, she and the Royals have supported, which help children.

“I am so proud of him, and he says everyone has been asking him about it at school and calling him the Rubik’s cube hero.

"He is so excited about the event”

Priyanka said an official judge will check if it is a world record.

Fifty-seven minutes is the record for 2,500 cubes.

Priyanka added: “This is the first time in the school’s history this has happened.

“I am really grateful for the school to help us with this - the headteacher has also been really nice.

“The whole school will be there as well as family members, the teachers and the mayor.

“I also invited Prince William but we were too late. I didn’t know I had to plan in one year in advance!”
