THE HARWICH Society’s winter programme of monthly talks will kick off with a talk on 'Medieval Christmas'.
Frances Boardman will be the guest speaker, and will discuss aspects of how Christmas was celebrated in medieval times, including food, traditions and celebrations.
The talk will take place in the Navigator, in Barrack Lane, beginning at 7.30pm on Friday, November 29, and is free of charge to Harwich Society members.
A raffle and refreshments will accompany the talk.
Harwich Society chairman Colin Farnell said: “Our winter programme of monthly talks is a popular part of the Harwich Society year, and a talk on how Christmas was celebrated in medieval times will offer a fascinating lead into Christmas.
“I’m sure everyone is looking forward to it.”
Mr Farnell added: “The Harwich Society Winter programme of monthly talks cover a wide variety of topics, but nothing could be more timely as we head into the festive season.
“I’m sure that finding out how Christmas was celebrated so long ago will be a great way to begin Christmas 2024 in Historic Harwich.”
