MANNINGTREE tennis ace Henry Patten and his partner Harri Heliovaara have bowed out of the US Open at the third-round stage.

The reigning Wimbledon doubles champions lost 6-2, 6-2 to number 11 seeds Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands and Croatian, Nikola Mektic at the Flushing Meadows event, in New York.

Patten and his Finnish partner Heliovaara were the sixth seeds at the US Open having been unseeded when they won Wimbledon, in July.
